HELP MAKE KNARESBOROUGH ACCESSIBLE: NEW BUSINESS MAP LAUNCHED
Knaresborough Disability Action Forum (KDAF) has launched a new initiative to create an accessibility map of local businesses, helping disabled residents and visitors navigate the town with confidence. The project invites businesses across Knaresborough to submit details about their premises so they can be featured on an online map highlighting accessible facilities and services.
The accessibility map will showcase key information such as step-free access, accessible toilets, hearing support, assistance for visually impaired customers, and other disability-friendly features. By gathering this information in one place, KDAF aims to remove barriers, promote inclusion, and support people with a wide range of access needs to enjoy everything Knaresborough has to offer.
Local businesses are encouraged to play an active role by sharing their accessibility information and committing to improvements where possible. Taking part is free, and KDAF hopes that a prominent listing on the map will also help businesses reach new customers who actively seek out inclusive venues.
Community members and business owners who would like to get involved, contribute information, or learn more about the project can email Adrian at adrian@kdaf.org.uk for further details.

Knaresborough residents are being invited to help shape the town’s bid for the prestigious Town of Culture 2028 title at a public meeting next week. The event will take place on Monday 9 February 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Knaresborough House, and is open to everyone in the community.
Hosted by Knaresborough Town Council, the session aims to gather ideas, priorities and creative suggestions from local people to build a bold and unforgettable proposal for the competition. Attendees will have the chance to share what they value most about Knaresborough’s heritage, arts, events and community spirit, and to suggest new projects that could feature in the town’s cultural programme.
The council stresses that every voice matters, and is encouraging individuals, community groups, businesses and cultural organisations to come along and contribute. For more information about the Town of Culture 2028 competition and Knaresborough’s plans, residents can follow the details provided on the event materials and QR code.
